Busy Be

Been travelling more than usual recently. Greece, Portugal, Ireland (no I don’t work in sovereign debt recovery, nor am I hitwoman though I wouldn’t admit that if I were) now Egypt all in a month. Nice places then and so this is not missive of complaints.

But today I go home for just over a week. Over a week!! And even saying that is a gift.

Maybe I’ll see you there! :)

Wild Things

There were two. And they were beyond taming. A friendship of light, neither bound to any tradition or expectation.

At their peak, a new millenium began. Preditictions of disaster and doom passed them by. The sky was still up, the earth remained down. And that year, more than any other, the Wild Things ruled. She wolves playing free, their pack every soul in this old city. Home was known simply as 201, where the door swung open, summer breathed eternal and celebrations persisted.

One of them sits here writing this. The other is too far away for her to touch. They’ve grown. Time has lived them. Months roll by and they don’t speak. Eons pass before their paths cross. And when they do, they’re not nearly as wild. But sometimes a look passes between them and for that moment, they’re as wild as ever.

I miss my friend.

Scotland: joys and trials

I’ve been here a week now and it’s been just what I needed. Folks are on great crazy-oldie form, now bickering about choices for dinner, earlier proudly showing me around their joint mammoth effort in the garden; younger brother’s got an Elvis cowlick; weather’s behaved with blue skies in my upturned face; air’s fresh and I’m miles away from any flight paths. Permeated bliss.

And then I tried to watch a YouTube clip and it took a Biblical age to load.

Headed back to London tomorrow.
